Contacted by to do first round with HR. Thought the questions were oddly focused on my opinion of bettering their marketing department, not so much the role itself. I gave my expert opinion for about an hour or so, only to have the interviewer tell me that she knows my salary expectation as it was written in the application, however this position As about $50k under my bare minimum. After the interview I realized she had taken the interview with me to speak with an expert as a consultant - something I would typically bill for and had no interest of hiring me as I was clearly out of the salary range.
Do not take an interview with an over qualified candidate so you don’t have to hire a marketing consultant to identify areas of opportunity for the business.
