I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Fly.io in July 2025
Interview
It is very strange, because it is really not an interview at all, they just want a complete solution right up at front, which you can tell since the first part to be completed in a very short amount of time, basically a proposal, which is something that takes times.
I had a very great experience, the team was responsive and helpful. There were hard technical tests but they are pertinent and fair. The whole process doesn't involve any calls.
I applied to several roles, including Technical Writer / Platform Engineering (Fly Machines) and UX Engineer, among others.
The first mistake I made was continuing to apply to similar roles instead of stopping after the first rejection.
PLEASE, for the love of God, I know the job market is tough and everyone is trying to find what they can. But in a normal job market, or even a few years ago, people wouldn’t subject themselves to this kind of interview process.
The process is mentally and emotionally demoralising. They may think it’s fair, but it really isn’t. I don’t believe it’s about competition — it’s just a very flawed interview pattern. Applying here drains you and damages your confidence.
