Confusing interview process
Because of the series of misunderstandings mails I had to lose an interview opportunity with GEICO, They want us to complete an assessment which is owned by a third party to proceed to the next level of interview, they had mentioned in their first mail that the link expires within 48 hours after I receive it.
I was asked for a date of my availability to take my test “over the next week” on one Monday. I choose a date in the following week that suited me(I said any day after next Monday) as I had some other commitments.
The link was sent to me on the same day. Unfortunately, my email was misleading to them, following week in my mail meant for them the same week from the day I sent mail. Also, they sent instructions regarding assessment. It was said in the mail that I can take the test over the weekend.
I kind of relieved that though they haven’t considered my availability I have time to take a test, as I can take it over the weekend (as per their second mail), but the test link got expired. After talking to a recruiter I came to know: the link expires within 48 hours after I start the test ( I have not really started the test, I created the profile) not from the day I receive the link. Though I can delay taking the test(it was not clear in their previous mail). Now they can’t reconsider my application. I can’t apply for that position/ take test for next 6 months as well.
I failed the assessment and interview process before taking it !!
The testing website gives you a session ID to access it at any time. I think it should be a good idea to let the tester know ID expires within a certain time period to avoid possible confusions.
