      Auto Damage Adjuster Trainee Interview

      9 May 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Shirley, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at GEICO (Shirley, MA) in May 2015

      Interview

First telephone interview was 10 minutes explaining briefly the training program. Essentially to make a decision whether to continue on with interviews and training or not. After that came skills testing. I believe the unfortunate beginning of prequalifying all applicants every step of the way to weed out any" weak links" began from the very beginning after my telephone interview. Every recruiter from Geico on LinkedIn had College recruiter next to their name. I am 54 yrs. of age and want to start a new career. I have a sense of bias to younger college age hires. I was not able to get in touch with anyone for about 1 week until I had to write to a recruiter on LinkedIn explaining my frustration and asked to help me contact someone to complete the interview process. (Note: I am 54 yrs of age ) After the skills test comes 2 separate face to face interviews then role plays on another occasion. After that the final step is to do a background check & driving record check prior to the 12 week training period in NJ and VA. This is a set up for failure in my opinion. What happens is you get paid training but if you don't pass the tests, you are done with training. The whole purpose to go through the former processes is to get to training. Why would they kick you out and have someone risk losing pay and job security after passing the previous testing and interviews. This program to me is a disadvantage to potential hires and should be changed to benefit the potential hires as well as give them incentives. They are selling the company on their paid training program with hotel and other amenities along with Geico's enticing benefits package and Geico car usage "IF" the job is offered. Way over rated in my opinion and ruins one's aspirations for becoming an Auto Damage Adjuster.

Good experience with this company and interview process. They asked questions pertaining to past job experience and questions regarding the job itself. The recruiter was nice and friendly, as well.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GEICO (Dallas, TX) in July 2025

      Interview

applied and was asked to do a assessment which was pretty straightforward. Then did a 20 min zoon interview with a recruiter. They explained a little about the job, salary, training and that I would be invited for a 2nd interview with the leadership team. A little strange interview also, they didn't really ask any questions about myself, just asked how many times I've shown up late for work in my past job and why I had a gap in my employment. A few days later I got a automated email that the job had been filled already. Seems just because you are told you made it to the 2nd and final round doesn't mean you will. They seem to hire first come first serve.

      Question 1

What do you know about the job? Why do you have a gap in your employment history? How many times have you been late to work in the past 5 years?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GEICO (Lincoln, NE) in July 2025

      Interview

I did a zoom interview, which wasn’t the issue. The issue was I felt like there were no questions asked linked directly to the job I was applying for. I’m use to more behavioral based questions and they asked a lot of random filler questions, had me guessing why are they even interviewing me??

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Employment gap history… which I thought was illegal
