      CSE Interview

      19 July 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner in Apr 2024

      Interview

Extremely unprofessional. I have interviewed with 25+ F500 companies. One company had 3 rounds and I had to do a presentation on the final round, and even though that was draining, it had a purpose and wasn't nearly as mindless as this interview process at Gartner. So first you speak to a psychology major from HR that screens you and she basically lies to you and says you're doing great while making you feel slightly inadequate. The usual right? Wrong. You will then be told she is your companion and to use her to for the next steps in the 4-5 step process. Think about for two seconds: a 4-5 step interview process for a sales role selling tickets to an event. Thats this role, youre selling tickets. to conferences. OK so she says "heres what youre gonna need for the next round." Any time someone in HR tries to voluntarily do a "prep" session and tell you what you "need" its them trying to deliberately steer you in the wrong direction and fail you. Remember HR is designed to fail you. Then the 3rd round comes and its some lady that literally worked at INDEED and thus somehow she is qualified to vet you, yet she didnt even know the company values when I asked her her favorite. She said "wow, thats a pretty good question, I dont know the company values". The prep is USELESS and you will not be asked the things you think. You will be asked questions youve already been asked in order to waste your time, so she can say OK time is up! SO be aware of that. You need to put your foot down and say "I already answered that, whats next?" Do not worry if you dont get the job here. Be bold and put your foot down, this place is not worth your time. They will ask what books youve read so they can read them and get smarter, not even kidding. They judge who "motivates" you. Just say your dad or your brother or a friend. Dont say anyone famous, they will judge you. Because they set you up to absolutely fail the 3rd round by running your time low by playing on your vulnerability to explain yourself when asked, I feel sorry for the hiring team who probably gets bad hires. Heres a real tip: during the role play, ask as many intrusive questions as you can, they will make it seem like questions are a bad thing, just keep asking invasive questions about fine details and push hard on money. Hate this place for draining me like they did and no they never give you feedback on how you did even though they promise that they will and act like they care. People with psychology degrees dont care, thats the point of a psychology degree. BTW I just nailed a 80k a year job with zero tell me about a time questions. They will suck your soul in this process. Hope this helps.
