I applied at the beginning of August. 3 Days later I received a virtual interview which consisted of answering self-recorded video questions, 3-5. You were able to have 2 retries, so no pressure!
After the self-recorded video questions there was a brain challenge game interview. It consisted of 4-5 mini games that tested my cognitive ability, very fun! I'd try and find similar games that test your memory and pattern recognition before taking the interview. You do get a break in between the video interview and games.
3 days later I received a coding challenge. I barely know anything about coding, but it was relatively easy. Just simple outputs/inputs. You can select any language to program with.
1 week later I received a phone-screen interview with a recruiter, very nice lady, just sussing you out for HR-related questions and to likely see if you'd be a good passionate fit.
2 weeks later I received a Skype interview with two hiring managers from the department that I'd likely be placed in. The skype interview went well, the hiring managers were very relaxed and very open to questions. The interviews were back to back and about an hour long each with a 10 minute break in between.
2 weeks later, I received a job offer. Before they officially begin the onboarding process you will have to go through a background check ( fairly lengthy, be prepared to have the last 7 years of residence info) and other necessary pre-hire stuff.
Once everything came back cleared GM sent an official start date and a lot of paperwork began to trickle in to digitally sign online.
One month later there was a 2 hour long cohort for incoming grads, very informative. The cohort spoke about benefits(yay!) the relocation process, what your first day would look like, and some other stuff. I really enjoyed it. You were able to asks questions etc.
Overall a great, healthy experience, unlike anything I have read online. General Motors has been very kind during the process and a great program for a recent grad ( Early Career Track). You are assigned a recruiter through the progress that you can stay in contact with for questions.
I accepted a full time position in Warren, MI.
Hope this helps!
