      Social Media Coordinator Interview

      21 Nov 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Newstead, Queensland
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Goodwill Projects (Newstead, Queensland) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Group Interview. Proceeded to a 1:1 Interview. I proceeded with caution as I did read the company reviews here on Glassdoor first. Unfortunately, the reviews here seem to be true. From the get-go it seemed like there was little flexibility or regard for my time, especially for the 1:1 interview, I was given very little notice and almost expected to work around their time. I was unavailable to come in that same afternoon but they insisted I try make it work as management wouldn't be in office for the rest of the week. What I also found interesting was during the 1:1 interview they asked how I would feel working late on a Friday to deliver a deadline and then working a weekend for content right after this. Honestly, for the right job I would have no problem with this, but it felt like a very strange thing to mention this or ask this type of question in an interview... RED FLAG. I was given an activity shortly after this 1:1 interview, a very extensive process for a Social Media Manager role. I am now currently in a Marketing Manager role with more responsibility and the process was no where near this lengthy. Its been a few months now and the job add is still up, I would recommend they reconsider how they interview for this role.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Ask the person next to you a few questions and describe to the group why that person would be a great fit for this role.

Thank you for your feedback. Our roles—particularly within the marketing and creative teams—are fast-paced and often tied to event delivery timelines. As such, we are always upfront during interviews about the flexibility occasionally required, including late finishes or weekend work. This is not intended as a red flag, but rather to ensure transparency about the nature of the role and the realities of the industry we operate in. That said, we also ensure team members have adequate time off and support to balance this workload. We also understand that the short notice for the 1:1 interview may not have suited your schedule. While we always aim to be respectful of candidates' time, there are occasions when availability from key team members is limited, and we do our best to work within those windows. Our recruitment process is designed to reflect the real demands of the role and help both sides determine fit. While we understand this may have felt extensive, particularly compared to other roles, we remain committed to finding the right people for our team—those who thrive in a collaborative, agile and high-impact environment. We wish you well in your current role and future endeavours.
