I was using Vettery to find a new career opportunity. A recruiter reached out to me separately to inquire about my interest in a software engineering role with them, and after that conversation a remote tech screen was scheduled. Pretty standard.
My interviewer for the screen showed no real interest in getting to know me, and instead launched immediately into a pop-quiz about my knowledge of some front-end related topics. Nothing too crazy, but I found it a bit odd. After that, we launched into an algorithm problem, which they advertised as being on the easy side but actually ended up being more of a leetcode-medium type of problem -- not the biggest deal. While I was walking through my thought process and solving the problem, my interviewer showed no interest in having a dialogue with me. They just sat there silently and watched me. In the end, I ended up getting most of the way to a working solution while missing a few edge cases, though I had to discover these on my own, as my interviewer was mostly silent. Finally, I was left about a grand total of 3 minutes to ask questions as the interviewer didn't stop me sooner and they had a hard cutoff.
I'm pretty disappointed overall, as I think Vettery has a great product, but upon reading reviews about what it's like to work there, I'm not really surprised.
