In the initial interview the hiring manager stated that they wanted to bring someone on fairly quick as there was work needing to be assigned. They outlined that they were interviewing the top five and that from there the top 3 would move to final rounds, and decision would be made at the end of that week. I had my final interview on a Monday, did not hear back at the end of the week. I ended up getting another offer but really wanted this one, so I reached out to the recruiter letting them know I had asked the offering company for a week to decide and I wanted to check in since the process was complete on when a decision would be made. I was told the hiring manager was not ready to make a decision and I should take the other job. I did and haven’t looked back. There are some antiquated practices here and candidates get lost in the shuffle. Thankfully for me, I had a responsive recruiter. Still haven’t gotten a rejection letter though!
