      Business Development Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at IP Pilot (Munich, Bavaria) in May 2026

      Interview

**Very disappointing and unprofessional recruitment process** My experience with IP Pilot was extremely frustrating despite an initially very positive impression. At the beginning, the recruitment process was fast, professional, and very well coordinated. Communication was smooth, and the company always replied within the timelines they promised. The process itself was also quite extensive: an HR interview, a written/video assignment about market entry into China, another interview with Sales and HR, and finally a full sales demo presentation involving the sales team, HR, and the Head of Sales. After completing the demo presentation, which I had previously been told would be the final stage, I asked whether there were any remaining steps. I was then informed that there might only be a final conversation with the CEO/CIO as a formality before moving forward. I delivered the assignment on a Monday and was told I would hear back within one or two days to schedule that final meeting. However, that never happened. For the first time during the process, communication completely changed. Wednesday passed with no update, then Friday as well. The following Monday, I had to reach out myself to ask for clarification. I was told they had simply been busy and that I would receive an update within another day or two. Again, nothing happened. This continued for almost three weeks, with repeated delays and vague promises of updates “soon,” while I was effectively left on hold believing the position was close to being finalized. Because of this, I unfortunately paused other interview processes and opportunities. In the end, after weeks of silence and uncertainty, I only received a very generic rejection email with no personalized feedback whatsoever. I fully understand that companies may choose other candidates, and that is completely fine. What I do not find acceptable is the lack of transparency, inconsistent communication, and the amount of time invested by candidates without receiving basic professional respect in return. My advice to future applicants would be not to stop interviewing elsewhere during this process, regardless of how advanced things may seem.

The questions focused mainly on sales experience, international background, and client communication. Some examples included: How I deal with difficult or demanding clients How I find and approach new clients My previous experience in sales roles and international environments My communication and sales approach During the demo presentation, they also asked practical sales-related questions, including pricing objections, product positioning, and how I would handle different customer situations.
