I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Illumina in Mar 2016
Interview
The interviewer was uninterested in my qualifications although they fit the requirements. He barely asked me questions and instead asked about some skills that I did not possess and did not seem very relevant to the position. The interviewer did not seem interested in answering questions about the position either and gave halfhearted responses.

Question 1
Do you know R or Perl? If so, describe your experience with it.
Virtual interview, I didn't get to talk to a real person, had to record all of my answers with a time limit, it was a horrible process and there was very little human communication
The first step was an audio-only hirevue that allowed two attempts. After passing that, there were two video call interviews with team members for a total of around 90 minutes give or take.

Question 1
Experience with teamwork, challenges, relevant experiences on resume.

Interview
Weird video interview where they asked me "How would you explain to a 6-year-old why the sky is orange at sunset." The other question I don't remember but was equally strange for a 2-question video interview. It felt very impersonal.
