I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Inventables (Chicago, IL)
Interview
Recruiter reached out on linkedin and then we scheduled a quick conversation to talk about the company itself. The recruiter was friendly and gave a good overview of what the company produced. Next we scheduled another conversation with one of the lead engineers. This conversation was not great. I had a feeling going in that I was not qualified for the position, which is fine, but the interviewer was incredibly low energy and didn't really seem to care at all about the conversation. Not a big deal really, but it's kind of annoying to have a half hour conversation with someone who obviously isn't going to move forward with you and who seems to really just not care about the conversation at all. All the questions were pretty basic and could be summed up as "What have you done with your life".
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Inventables (Chicago, IL) in July 2018
Interview
First step was an HR phone screen. Then a technical call with an engineer. Then a relatively interesting take home project (had a couple days to complete, probably spent 4-5 hours on it). Finally an all-day on site. I think normally they spread it out over two onsite stages, but I was not local so I did 8 hours worth of interviews/live coding in one day.
Straightforward process overall.
