I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Johnson & Johnson (Toronto, ON) in Mar 2023
Interview
The process was thorough and gave me a good sense of the company’s culture and expectations.
Initial Screening: After submitting my application online, I was contacted by a recruiter for a phone screening. During this call, the recruiter asked about my background, experience, and why I was interested in Johnson & Johnson. I highlighted my five years of experience in systems engineering, particularly in the healthcare sector, and my passion for improving patient outcomes through technology.
Technical Interview: Next, I had a technical interview with a senior systems engineer. They asked me to solve a real-world problem related to system integration in a healthcare setting. I described a past project where I successfully integrated a new patient management system with existing hospital infrastructure. I focused on the challenges I faced, such as ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime, and how I overcame them.
Behavioral Interview: I then had a behavioral interview with a hiring manager. The questions centered around teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution. I shared an example of leading a cross-functional team to resolve a critical system outage. I emphasized my communication skills and ability to stay calm under pressure, which helped us quickly identify and fix the issue.
Panel Interview: The next stage was a panel interview with potential colleagues and managers. This was more in-depth and included technical questions as well as discussions about how I would fit into the team. I was asked to present a project I was particularly proud of and explain its impact on the organization. I chose a project where I implemented a new security protocol that significantly reduced system vulnerabilities.
Final Interview: The final interview was with a senior executive. This interview focused on my long-term career goals and understanding of Johnson & Johnson’s mission. I expressed my desire to grow within the company and contribute to innovative healthcare solutions. I also discussed how my values aligned with the company’s commitment to improving patient care.
Outcome: Throughout the process, I received positive feedback and felt that Johnson & Johnson valued both my technical skills and cultural fit. I was thrilled when I received an offer for the position. The thoroughness of the interviews reassured me that I was joining a company that truly cared about its employees and their contributions.
