The interview process at Kaplan for a tutor felt more drawn out than I expected. After applying online, I had a phone interview that felt a bit scripted, with questions that didn’t always connect to the actual teaching role. The mock lesson was stressful, since the expectations weren’t clearly explained. Overall, it sometimes felt impersonal and overly standardized.

Question 1
“How would you explain a difficult concept to a student who feels frustrated or discouraged?”
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kaplan (New York, NY) in June 2014
Interview
The interview process was simple and efficient. There was a phone interview first, then a video, then a sort of trial run at tutoring. It allowed many opportunities to show my skill.

Question 1
They asked me how I'd manage a student who didn't want to learn
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kaplan (Diamond Bar, CA) in Mar 2016
Interview
Applied online. Was contacted next morning and advanced to the next step. For this step I had to record two two-minute clips depicting how I would teach a class. Contacted again in two days and moved to the next step which was an online interview. Contacted me in two days saying I would not get an offer.
