The interview for the internship went great. I showcased my best work, provided my experience, and answered the questions beautifully. They liked me, and I had good feelings about getting hired. About five days later, I got an email from the recruiter with a new headline stating a higher job title name. In the email, they said that they were deliberating the next steps for the role and wanted to see if there were any updates/developments on my end. I responded with still interest in working for MKG; then they said they would get back to me when they received an update. I did not hear back for another two weeks, and they said they had moved on with someone with better 3D design skills for the internship. I was confused because not only did they take their sweet time, they CHANGED the title of the position I interviewed for from "intern" to a higher position. They led me to think that they would move me up to a different position because I was highly qualified with an MFA + experience from another internship, but then to reject me in the end.
Meanwhile, I get two full-time career offers from two different companies. In all honesty, I believe I was over-qualified- they considered me for a higher position, found out they didn't have the budget for that, then found a different individual for the intern role. They completely forgot about me in the end and used the "better 3D model skills" excuse not to bring me on board. MKG handled this process so poorly. Proceed with caution before applying.
