I recently had the pleasure of interviewing at MSL Centre, which turned out to be a rather enlightening experience. After making the effort to travel to the site, I was met with an interviewer whose approach can only be described as “kindly condescending.” They gave me what I can only assume were backhanded compliments, making it seem as though my overseas qualifications were a cute little detail rather than a legitimate asset. It would have been truly considerate of them to communicate their elitist mindset before I made the trip. A simple phone call could have spared us both the time and effort.
In the end, this experience felt like a total waste of time, and it left me questioning whether the company values diverse qualifications or just prefers to stick to their narrow definitions of “acceptable.” If you have qualifications from overseas, I would suggest seeking opportunities elsewhere, where your experience will be genuinely valued.
