There was a group interview followed by a morning of shadowing. The group interview consisted of us asking the CEO questions. I was never asked any questions and was told directly by an employee that they did not read my resume or any resumes. I was offered a job at the end of my day of shadowing and scheduled to start the following week. I never received a formal written offer and was told I would receive documentation upon arrival for my first day. I was put in a text thread with my points of contact for any questions I might have, and when I politely asked about pay and benefits I never received any sort of response. I waited until the end of the week, heard nothing, and then sent a message saying that I didn’t think the job was the right fit for me. I also received no response to that message. The lack of transparency about pay felt very shady and the lack of response felt like I was being shamed for asking a very standard question about information they should be more than willing to share to a new hire expected to start the following week. The people I shadowed were great, but the company’s practices felt very exploitative of their employees.
