The interview went well and was friendly, but they asked me to spend two weeks in Barcelona for the onboarding period. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I couldn’t accept that.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad the interview felt positive and friendly. We understand the Barcelona onboarding isn’t ideal for everyone — but hey, maybe next time!
Wishing you all the best!

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Manychat (Amsterdam)
Interview
2 challenges about algorithms in plain text editor. No IDE help, testcases, etc.
Discussing the decisions while live coding. Great for coding competitions not for a senior role IMO. I was expecting questions about infrastructure, concurrency, architecture, …
Thank you for your feedback. We understand that live coding without IDE support can feel limiting, especially for senior candidates expecting a broader technical discussion.
Your input is valuable, and we’ll take it into account as we continue refining our interview process to better align with different experience levels and expectations.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Manychat
Interview
I have been a team lead for many years in Seville and the job description is very similar to my last role so my qualifications , location, speaking skills and experience should not been an issue. I say this as imp context
I heard many great things about many chat and I was very happy to get invited for the first round after applying through portal. Based on my research before the interview I saw that a few positions have been advertised for quite some while...some going back as far as 6 to 8 months which I found surprizing as I know it's a big company. I think I understood why after my first interview as a red flag
The interviewer was polite but she seemed to be in such a hurry. She did not ask to introduce myself and went into the detail about the company. A lot of times I felt that she did not understand me or was not listening to me. My English is almost C1 level and I try to be as clear as I can but she seemed to not register what I was saying. She asked about my most recent job and I explained and also about my experiences before. The next question she asked was about the previous job as if she did not hear what I said. She said things like `yes yes I hear you` to make it seem she was listening but it seemed like she was really not listening to what I was saying
The interview very rushed and she did not ask if I have any questions at the end. Infact it was actually not easy to try to ask some questions in between due to the speed. There were many times where I said something she acknowledged it then the next question she asked was something I had already answered. I am not sure why there was so much confusion on her end. I tried telling her again about my technolgy experience and work experience she thinks I dont have but she didnt seem to understand that. The call ended abruptly like she didn't want to talk to me anymore and the next day I got a rejection with feedback which did not make sense as if you check my resume you can see what she says I lack I mention many times throughout my resume and in the interview!! Did she think that when I said I have experience in such technologies she understood it as I do not? I dont know..
Many roles have been open for several months and my guess is that many qualified candidates do not get through the 1st round because they are not being listened to or misunderstood in the first round. I really like the product and it is a shame I wont get a chance to work with this team because the recruiter does not want to take time to actually listen to what the candidate is saying
Feedback to management - Please ensure your interview process is reviewed. Basic comprehension of english, understanding of tech stacks, experience and listening to the candidate is not too much to ask for especially considering you have many offices across the world
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and for your interest in Manychat. We’re sorry to hear that your interview felt rushed and that you didn’t feel fully heard. This is not the experience we aim for, and we take your concerns very seriously.
We will be reviewing this case closely to identify areas for improvement and ensure our interviewers provide a more attentive and respectful experience. Your insights are invaluable, and we’ll use them to make our process better.
Thank you again, and we wish you the very best in your career journey!
