      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Mastercard (Dublin, Dublin) in Jan 2023

      Interview

I initially had a short screening call (10-15 mins) with the recruiter to get to know me better. A few days later I had another screening call with a technical manager (about 30 mins) to get to know my skills. He also explained the product so it was an opportunity for me to learn about my role. A week later, I was offered an interview. There were three stages (1 hour per stage) and they were all held on the same day. Stage 1 Interview with an architect asking high-level questions about front end development. Nothing too tricky, it was mostly a conversation rather than direct (scripted) questions. Stage 2 Interview with a manager about behavioural questions/what I would do in a certain situation at work. This was also more of a conversation. Stage 3 Interview with the same technical manager. This time I presented the key products I developed and answered questions based on my presentation. Afterwards, the recruiter told me I would hear from them the next day about my feedback. This was not the case and where my experience went downwards. A couple of weeks passed and I didn't hear anything. I emailed the recruiter and I was told there were structural changes in the organisation and they are trying to get the offered salary/position approved by upper management. This meant I passed the interviews but had no offer yet. Several weeks and emails later, I was told the same thing. After 3 months from when I initially did the interview, I received a generic email saying "that [their] hiring plans have changed, and will not be continuing the recruitment process for this position". This is very disappointing. I spend a very long time preparing for the interview and making the presentation slides. I even took time off from my current job to have the interviews. If you plan on hiring, please make sure the position is available, and don't put people through this process if you're not planning on hiring.
