I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr in Dec 2011
Interview
The hiring staff at McMaster Carr were very smart, nice, and dedicated. It was a bit confusing since most people comes in as some sort of business/customer service position and then moves around to other parts of the company as needed. This was considered the "regular" track and the other being the "management" track which people are recruited into. The paths do not cross which is very odd and limiting.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr in Feb 2019
Interview
Interviewed with five different people, all were professional and kind. Each interview differed and ranged from structured to more casual. They are looking to build a team of diverse skills and talents, so they're interested more in how you think rather than how much you know.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Elmhurst, IL)
Interview
Had an informational phone call that quickly transitioned to an invitation to interview in person and details about the various program tracks that were offered. A couple of weeks later, I flew out to interview, and did multiple back-to-back hour long interviews, including with the VP of the branch.
