Merck Compensation Director interview questions

I interviewed with 3 different Director/Executive Directors. I sent my Thank You notices and did not hear a word for the next 5 weeks (to be fair 1 week was when the company closed between Christmas and New Years). After 5 weeks I reached out to the HR contact I had and sent an email stating I was still interested in the role and would like to know if I was still under consideration for the role. That night at 10:15 pm I received an automated email that I was no longer being considered, they were moving on with other candidates, etc. What REALLY bothered me was the fact that I heard nothing for 5 weeks until I reached out to them and then I get an automated email, nothing from the Recruiter.
