I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Merck (Kenilworth, NJ) in May 2016
Interview
Initially, it was a phone interview with the hiring manager. However, it took them couple of months to get back to me. I was invited to Merck's huge site at Kenilworth, NJ. The on-site interview was a day long interview and several of the interviews had 2 people interviewing at the same time. The interview also included an hour-long seminar. They also scheduled a lab tour in the agenda. Each person usually had a set of questions they would ask from. The questions were mixed between technical scenarios and behavioral type.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
When transferring a continuous-feeding process to contract manufacturer, the CMO insists that they would follow a bolus-type feeding rather than the continuous process developed in-house. What is your decision? Will you agree with CMO's recommendations or not?
Round 2 with hm was around 30min technical, and final panel interview was mostly behavioral questions. Great vibe but whole process took almost 3 month which is a little exhausting.
Received interview invitation shortly after I applied online. First round was HR phone screen, second round was HM, then panel interview with 2-3 people in one panel and 3-4 back to back interviews.

Question 1
Panel round they asked some technical questions like describe a certain operation, what are some types of certain material (membranes). They asked what are the top three attributes of an ideal company that I want to work at. They also asked about how I deal with conflicts with coworkers and supervisor.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Merck (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2026
Interview
Preliminary screening interview with the hiring manager, then ghosted completely. When I reached out 3-4 weeks later the response was pretty terse and I am technically still waiting to hear a decision either way.
