The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Merck in July 2009
Interview
Phone interview consisted of explanation of the position by hiring manager and the requirements of the position. I was asked for a salary expectation right there on the spot in order to see if it was worth continuing with the interview. I got called back for another interview in person. Three interviews, with two people each, the hiring manager and someone from HR consisting of one of those groups. They have preset questions related to the position and also behavioral questions.
People were extremely nice and laid back. Company culture is flat throughout, meaning that managers don't think better of lower position employees.

Interview
I submitted an online application, received an invitation to interview, and met on Webex with 6 people. They were very professional, enthusiastic, and answered my questions about the position. I only had one interview before receiving an offer.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Merck (Durham, NC)
Interview
I arrived 15 minutes early, as requested by one of the HM's. I sat in the lobby waiting to be called in. All the workers who passed by were all friendly; it seemed like a great place to work. They brought me in to a room of 5 people...mostly young people, at the level of position I was applying for or slightly beyond it. They introduced themselves and asked that I do the same. They asked some pretty basic behavioral questions (What are your best strengths and 3 biggest weaknesses?), which I wasn't prepared for. Note to the interviewer, even if you have a great internal reference you should always have canned answers to these questions prepared at a moment's notice when interviewing for a job. They also asked some ethical questions, to which the answer was blatantly obvious. It almost kind of felt insulting to my intelligence that they would ask me such a question, and my demeanor probably shifted for the worse at that point, being slightly annoyed. Overall, however, it was rather informal and they were very nice folks.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Merck (Durham, NC) in Feb 2012
Interview
I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter after application submission. The recruiter asked me a few questions such as experience in shift work, salary expectation, and whether or not I am all right to work at night. A personality test was sent to me after I submitted my answers. Few days later, a recruiter called me for an onsite exam. The exam was 3 hours long using computer and had 12 sections; 12 sections were timed, and graded as pass or fail. After a few days later, I was called for an interview. Four people interviewed me, and questions were consist of basic questions such as "Tell me about yourself" and behavioral questions. Afterward, I had to do a physical exam. It was about lifting 40lbs objects, squatting, pushing, pulling and using a hood.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One interviewer gave me a list of tasks and asked me to place the order that I would do first. Afterward, I had to explain my reasons of ranking those tasks. It was an open-end question.
