      Labor Relations Interview

      11 July 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      West Point, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Merck (West Point, PA) in May 2023

      Interview

I was contacted fairly quickly, about two days after applying for the position . I was then scheduled for a pre-screen call with the recruiter and then was contacted by the hiring manager for another pre-screen which was odd. Then I was scheduled for three in-person interviews at their facility. Four days later I was told there was a scheduling conflict and asked to reschedule. I ended up arriving on time but in the wrong facility and then was given incorrect instructions by their security staff. Thankfully, despite my delay, all the interviews were still completed that day. Given the position would require relocation and I was house hunting, I asked before completing the interview about when I can expect hear back and was told someone would reach out to give me an update. A month later, I still didn’t hear back and contacted the recruiter for an update. The position was still being reposted online but the recruiter never responded. This is the worst recruitment experience I’ve ever experienced. Requiring someone to basically take pto and in my case, commute over an hour for interviews, to then not bother to provide an update or respond is incredibly disappointing. Based on this experience and the obvious red flags, I withdrew my application and will not apply again in the future.

      Question 1

Why are you looking to leave your current position? Explain a challenging situation you were faced with and how it was resolved. What is something interesting that people don’t know about you?
