I applied online. I interviewed at Minuteman Press in Oct 2025
Interview
It was pretty relaxed; I got a message asking to set up an in-person interview after applying online. I had a few standard questions like why I want to work there, my education/work experience, strengths/weaknesses, etc. They showed me the print room and explained what the work would be like, what they expect from me, and the responsibilities I would have.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Minuteman Press (Somerset, NJ) in Mar 2024
Interview
Went into the interview and sat down with the owner. The first thing he states is "Have we talked or interviewed before." I stated no, and later asked what or why would he think he spoke to me already? He stated that there has been a lot of turnover of employees and he has been turning over employees for several different reasons (there are only 2 graphic designers employeed) so that was a huge red flag. The range of income was $20-$27 which is a huge jump. After the interview with the man, his wife intervened from coming in and also interviewed me. She asked questions about me without looking at my resume or application. She asked "how do you handle fast paced environments," which is such a standard question and I answered. After I answered that I am used to fast paced environments as a graphic designer for 20 years, she then asks "how do you deal with frustration from bosses when you make a mistake." I was confused at the question, but still answered in a "interview like manner" where I simply stated, "I typically try to double check my work so there are no mistakes, but in the rare cases there are mistakes I would understand the frustration coming from Bosses since they are in charge of what goes on with customers and in the office. But I typically try to avoid mistakes by double checking the work." The wife then states..."well I don't like mistakes and they fall on me, so if mistakes are made, you can be replaced."
It was such a strange demeanor, and easily made me realize how and why they have such a big turnover of employees. However, the man owner was sooo kind!

Interview
Standard interview questions about my background and experience. Asked if I worked with big printers before and if I worked in a fast-paced environment as they need someone quick in getting things done.
