I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Moat in Jan 2021
Interview
I've had a great interview(s) at Moat. Everything was remote, including the proposed job. First there was HR call, then a 30 min talk with the hiring manager. Further 2 technical interviews, 1 hour each: a basic coding task related to DB, and an architectural one which was to design for such requirements as very simplified ones of their system. Next a soft skills interview, which I lack the soft skills to evaluate properly. And, finally, 30 min interview with the team which asked their own questions, job related.
It was really no BS experience. Everything is focused and related to the job. Not overly demanding of my efforts.
The only issues were that I didn't have enough time to ask my questions on the team interview, but I was suggested to do so separately. And the process is very lengthy for the offered fairly moderate level of compensation. =)
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Moat (New York, NY) in July 2017
Interview
30 minute phone screen
1 hour technical interview over phone/shared code editor
4 hour in-person technical interview
- Six different interviewers
- First hour, interviewers were friendly (white board problem)
- Second hour, interviewer was friendly (technical problem on a laptop)
- Third hour, interviewer was friendly (brain teaser)
- Fourth hour, interviewers were not friendly (technical problem on a laptop)
After taking about 48 hours to gather emails from the 6 interviewers, I sent them an email thanking them for their time. The lead technical recruiter responded to that email stating that they had a meeting and decided not to move forward with the process.
The technical recruiter ignored my email requesting feedback so that I could do better next time.

I applied online. I interviewed at Moat (New York, NY) in Nov 2016
Interview
They found my resume on a job posting site and emailed me.
A phone screening, followed by a take-home code challenge with JS and google maps. Then we had an online real-time coding . The time was limited and the interviewer was in a hurry and just wanted to be done with it.
