The process took 3 months. I interviewed at New York Life
Interview
Was an overall horrible experience.
After I applied online in September, I got an email for a request for an interview in November and to give some times I’m free. I have multiple times for the next week to not hear back at all. I followed up two weeks to see if they wanted to interview me to then get multiple phone calls from a number I didn’t know until I realized it was NYL calling me to schedule a time. I got a scheduled time to then interview with the hiring manager.
The interview with the hiring manager went well, she asked what I knew about the role and I said only from what I know from the job posting and was surprised I didn’t talk to TA first. I said only to schedule this interview. They told me there are 3 BAs role they are hiring for.
After the interview, I emailed the TA with a thank you note to send to hiring manager to not hear back for a couple weeks with them another call asking for a second interview. Once scheduled and it went well, I I had a good third interview as well.
Now in late December, I received a call from TA telling me that he had a meeting with the hiring manager later that day and he said it seemed like they wanted to hire me. So he proceeded to tell me about their salary, benefits etc and that I should receive an offer letter after their talk.
I then get notice that that the hiring manager would like to meet with me one more time before an offer (that was in writing). They scheduled it after the new year. Now January 3, 15 min before the scheduled meeting, I get a call from Talent that she actually isn’t free and they need to reschedule and they will call me with a scheduled time.
A week later, no phone call. I follow up with a call and email. No response. A week later, I email and call again, to then get an email that they actually only hiring for 2 BA roles and asked why I’m interested in the role. I wrote how much I wanted the role etc. to just being ghosted. Never heard back, followed up, nothing.
Can’t believe companies can treat people this way. Was a terrible process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to work at NYL?
Have you worked in insurance before?
Interview with manager. Pleasant experience and regular questions. The role would require talking to customers and sell insurance products, so lots of questions on interpersonal relationships, team works, and communications. However they were looking for immediate hire.

Question 1
Why would you choose this role? When can you start?
I wanted to share some feedback regarding my previous interaction with NYL during the interview process. While I had a strong interest in the role and the company and genuinely appreciated the opportunity to interview, I experienced some challenges during the interview journey. There were some notable delays in communication, with significant gaps between responses and interview scheduling. This included several changes in recruiters and a transition between contacts, which added some uncertainty to the process. Additionally, after the second round interview with the VP, there was an unforeseen delay in the subsequent interview rounds due to team-related issues. Although it was initially communicated that the interviews would be rescheduled, they were eventually canceled, which left me with an incomplete interview process. I'm bringing this up not as a criticism, but in the spirit of transparency and to potentially help streamline the process for candidates in the future. I believe in open and honest communication, and I value my experiences and interactions with potential employers. It's important for both candidates and companies to ensure a transparent and smooth interview process to make well-informed decisions. I would appreciate any insights or clarification regarding the interview process and the ultimate outcome, as it would help me better understand the situation.
