I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Nordstrom in Apr 2012
Interview
I just had a phone interview for (originally) personal stylist assistant, but when I got the call they told me the position had already been filled and I could apply for retail sales. I said OK and the interview was really short, about 5 min. She offered me a 1:1 interview in store immediately. I accepted and will be interviewing in early May.
Experienced retail associate (10+ years of experience) was initially turned down online except for one job in Women's retail sales. Scheduled an interview - arrived early - no one could find who I was scheduled to interview with... a nice woman at the customer service pickup counter called throughout the store and finally found someone to interview me. She was apparently the former assistant of the woman who was supposed to interview me - she didn't even look at my resume. Kind of had attitude with me and seemed irritable. Turns out the woman who was supposed to interview me (the actual hiring manager) WASN'T EVEN THERE... then after my interview with this random person, I am told there will be another interview where I will have to demonstrate selling abilities with the woman I was supposed to meet with in the first place. It took this hiring manager three days to send me a generic email and she didn't even apologize for not being there - but expected me to show back up the following day for a second interview.... Unbelievable. Completely unprofessional and rude! I have read how terrible the management is and now I completely agree - the woman who interviewed me was a manager for a different department (why would she qualify to interview me when it didn't even count and I still had to meet with the original woman). Too much attitude overall, I was treated poorly. Complete disappointment.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The woman interviewing me was at least transparent about the long hours, the 16.60 hourly pay, the competitive nature of commission sales. Most of the questions were fairly basic and revolved around communication skills and prior customer service / selling experience. Honestly Victoria's Secret was a better interview, as well as Abercrombie...
I applied online. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Shelby Township, MI) in Nov 2018
Interview
The interview process was very straightforward and generic to the role. Most of the questions were based on client relationships, how you manage multiple responsibilities at once, and how you deal with difficult customers.

Question 1
Describe a time when you had to deal with a challenging customer- how did you handle it? What was the outcome?
I applied online. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Novi, MI) in June 2018
Interview
It was not too bad of an interview. I met with a floor manager for about 30 minutes. They asked a lot of behavioral questions and about customer service. Then you pick out an outfit from the floor based on a hypothetical.
