I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Costa Mesa, CA) in Apr 2013
Interview
I applied online and got an email to set up a phone interview day and time. When I got the call the woman was nice and asked a variety of questions that lasted 20 min or so. Basic questions like why do you want to work at the Rack versus working at Nordstrom and how would you prioritize your time in a fast-paced environment. There were also specific questions like "when was there a time you..?" I didn't answer those questions too well so that might have been why I got an email back saying they didn't need me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Specifically describe a time where you had to handle a large volume of people and how you prioritized your tasks at that time. ( I wasn't specific enough when asked)
I applied online. The interview was split into two parts. An at home video recorded interview done by corporate and then a few days between to find out I moved along and will be interviewed in store.
Overall they were fairly common and easy questions. Mainly behavioral with how you would act in difficult situations or sharing an actual experience you with a difficult customer or something else along those lines.
I know some people get a phone interview instead of the video recording first, I'm not sure what the difference is in getting those.
