I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Bellevue, WA) in June 2012
Interview
Apply online initially, show up to the department and request to speak with the manager. Get their business card, follow up on email and phone the following week. Nail the interview!
Quite lengthy for a seasonal position, I had to sit down and be asked numerous situations in retail where problems may have arisen in the past and how I handled them.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Miami, FL)
Interview
I applied online, filled out an application through the website. Had to fill out a personality quiz online.Took about 2 weeks to hear back from HR. They asked me to come in for an interview. Went to an interview with the department manager. He asked the usual retail questions, but focused on my outlook on dealing with difficult retail situations. Asking how I react to situations in the workplace and how I interact with customers. The initial interview took about 30 minutes. Was told the next day I would start. The manager showed me around the selling floor. Came in the next day and met the employees and assistant manager I would be working with. Overall good professional fast experience.
