I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Northshore School District (Bothell, WA) in Jan 2017
Interview
I applied online and followed up in person. It was a relatively straightforward interview at the district office with 2 other district employees. The interview was relatively low pressure, considering that school districts are *always* in need of more subs.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
All of our teachers are supposed to leave sub plans, but how would you handle a situation where you walked into a class in the morning and there were no substitute plans left for the day?
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Northshore School District (Bothell, WA) in Sept 2012
Interview
It was short, with very pertinent questions asked. Was able to laugh during the interview process. I felt it was one of my better interviews that I was able to participate in. They have a list of questions that they are required to ask everybody and cannot deviate from them. That gives you the assurance of a quality interview process. However it also means that if they would like to know more about a related topic, they cannot ask it. Pros and cons about that.
This is a job that they will train you for if you do not have the required license (though at a smaller rate). However you do need to pass a background check, a drivers history check, and a drug test. They are very particular about your drives history check (as required by law).

Question 1
How would I handle a "sticky parent," someone that constantly seemed to have problems (relevant or not) and cannot seem to find the ability to be content?

Interview
The candidate is interviewed by 3 people and asked a series of 8 questions. You will be provided the questions 10 minutes before hand so that you can reflect on what your answers will be and feel prepared before you go in. Use examples as much as you can!
