I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Northvolt in Nov 2023
Interview
RED FLAGS during the interview process from my experience
1. Logical and Personality Test: Passed!
2. Interview with recruiter. Questions mostly about my previous experience and personality questions. My application was sent to hiring manager and interview was scheduled
3. Interview with Hiring Manager: Interview went well, technical questions from my previous experience and personality questions which I believe I aced based from the positive feedback I got from him. So immediately, my application was sent to Senior Manager.
4. Interview with Senior Manager: Interview went well, I was able to discuss my past work experience and share some personalities. I got a positive feedback at the end of the interview
Duration of interview over all is just 10 days. After the interviews, recruiter sent an email offering the job and I accepted it. Asked me to provide references which I gave immediately. Recruiter scheduled a meeting to discuss salary offer and benefits after I accepted the job offer. However, a day before the scheduled meeting, the recruiter canceled the meeting and job offer was canceled for the reason that I lack battery manufacturing experience. I found the reason strange. All through out the interview process, from recruiter, hiring manager and senior manager, it was my semiconductor industry experience that were discussed. I should have not pass the recruiter or at least hiring manager and even get a job offer if the lack of battery industry background is the reason. Furthermore, on the job requirement, semiconductor industry experience is actually included. I sent an email to the recruiter for clarifications but the response I got is far from my questions. I did reached out the hiring manager to give clarification on the cancelation of the job offer. He just responded that he will do investigation with HR. His response actually puzzled me more. Is he aligned or aware with the cancelation??? I made a follow-up but I didn't received anymore response.
The interview process was actually a heart breaking experience, I only got a false hope. Receiving positive feedbacks every after interviews, receiving and accepting the job offer but at the end will just be canceled without any clear and logical reason.
I actually read some interview feedback here at Glassdoor similar to my experience. So, is it already a norm on Northvolt's recruiting process?
