      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Nutanix (Amsterdam) in June 2021

      Interview

I interviewed via employee referral at Nutanix in Amsterdam. The first zoom call was with a recruiter, a very pleasant conversation with some basic technical questions. The second call was mostly technical, questions about Linux, storage, VMware, networking, also pleasant and relaxed interview. The third call was with somewhat stressful, around 2,5 hours, with two managers and four senior SRE`s. Managers were very nice, as well as most of the senior SRE`s, except one. He wasn`t so helpful as the rest of the interviewers. I couldn`t understand exactly all the questions, and I felt like he was looking for my weak spots, and kept drilling there. That approach made me very stressed, and impacted my performance later on. Overall it was a great experience, but I didn`t do so well on that third interview :)

      Junior Systems Reliability Engineer Interview

      14 Aug 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Durham, NC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Nutanix (Durham, NC) in May 2016

      Interview

The process (for me) involved four interviews. An initial interview was conducted over the phone with an internal recruiter to confirm some of my resume's listed fields of study and then we set up another (more technical) telephone interview with one of their engineers. This second interview lasted approximately forty-five minutes, and was more in depth - again covering topics listed in my resume. The third interview was an on-site, two and a half hour interview - two individual sit-downs with managers (less technical more about personality and aspirations), and then a ninety minute technical interview with three engineers. During this longer, technical interview, they asked questions relevant to my background (Cisco networking, RHEL, security) and had me troubleshoot various scenarios. The fourth interview was another thirty to forty-five minute telephone interview with an Escalation Engineer; another technical interview but with additional focus on how one would handle certain situations, not just how to troubleshoot but how far you are willing or able to do so. Firstly, every single person I spoke with or came into contact with at Nutanix was extremely courteous and welcoming, but also very excited to be working there. I was able to immediately ascertain what a wonderful and nurturing environment their employees were working in. The position I was interviewing for is a new college graduate position, so the questions they were asking me were not too overly complex, but (again) they definitely confirmed the knowledge claimed on my resume as well as basic understanding of TCP/IP networking. Secondly, this is an intellectually stimulating environment where one can learn from other employees with diverse knowledge and impressive backgrounds. Lastly, they are very supportive and want to see you succeed - to learn about your goals and to help you realize them. On a side note - take some time to learn about their technology and/or company beforehand and get excited, because they are doing very exciting things.
