Like the other review, I’d say it was more of a conversation that an interview. I was contacted on the morning via email, and a phone call was arranged for the same day with no time for preparation.
This preparation was not needed, as nothing was asked about my experience. Instead she asked about things I had written previously, in articles and my university dissertation. She wrote those down (to perhaps use herself?).
It was a very casual call in which she also told me some very personal stories - quite bizarre and unprofessional as I do not know this person.
Easy interview but in retrospect this process should have been a red flag for what was to come in the internship. I assume she takes on everybody that applies and proceeds to exploit them all.
Like the other review, she discussed how this can help me to build a portfolio. It can not, as my work was never published.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about your previous articles and university work.
I applied online. I interviewed at Olga Anderson in Nov 2020
Interview
We had a phone call, Olga asked me what I wanted to be in the future and I said an editor. After that she didn't ask me anything else but just talked about herself and the business and offered me to be an editor (for free)
I applied online. I interviewed at Olga Anderson (London, England) in Nov 2020
Interview
The 'interview' was an hour+ long phone call which really was not an interview at all. The call pretty much went over the work you would be expected to carry out as it had already been decided you would be an intern for the company with no agreement on your end. The employer really does not ask you anything about previous experience, study etc so seems to employ anyone that is willing to carry out large amounts of unpaid work for 3+ months (which is against the law as you are classed as a worker).
