I applied online. I interviewed at Ometria (Lisbon, Lisbon District) in Jan 2023
Interview
Two interviews. One, with an RH person to understand how the company operates and for them to know me. The second is a technical discussion to assess the skills. Overall, the people I met were nice and friendly, but the questions were difficult, mainly to understand.
Their process is: 1- initial conversation with recruiter 2- conversation with 2 techies 3- take home assignment 4- discussion/review of take home assignment 5- systems design interview 6- cultural interview As you can see it's a lengthy process. The take home assignment was about writing an importer to read data from Mailchimp API and write data to their API. I failed on the systems design interview, where I was prepared for one approach (using a configuration system) but they expected and wanted me to design an autonomous systems (without configuration). I had not prepared for that scenario and had to think about it on the spot, which is naturally difficult. I felt a bit of a contemptuous atmosphere in this interview. I finished the interview feeling like I wouldn't go ahead if they approved me, because of the way they handled the conversation. My impression is that they are demanding a lot and willing to pay lower-end salaries. To be honest, I think I have better options :-)
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Write code to import contacts from Mailchimp and write them to Ometria's API. Max delay acceptable is 2 hours. What's the difference between a thread and a process. How would you design the take home assignment to comply with the 2 hours max SLA?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ometria in Oct 2021
Interview
The total interview time was around 5-6 hours in total. The recruiter was always in touch everything was fine, but in the end, they said that couldn't pay what I asked. Seems like the recruitment process is not very organized.

Questions about Software Engineering general knowledge.
Thank you for taking the time to review Ometria's interview process and sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience. I'm glad to hear that you felt the recruiter kept you in the loop. We have taken this feedback on board. If you have any additional feedback to share on how we can improve the recruitment process, please message talent@ometria.com
