I had a phone interview with a Senior Corporate Recruiter for a marketing leadership position that seemed to go very well. The call ended with, “My assistant/coordinator will call you later today or tomorrow. I want to get you in front of the hiring manager ASAP.” I left the conversation feeling very excited about the opportunity.
Two days later, having heard nothing, I left a voicemail. The following week, still without a response, I sent a follow-up email. Shortly after, I received a generic form email stating: “After further discussion with the team, we’ve decided to move forward with other candidates for this role whose experience more closely aligns with our current priorities. I greatly appreciate the interest you’ve shown in OneDigital and wish you all the best in your career journey.”
This was a role I was highly qualified for and met all of the listed job requirements. While I understand not every candidate will move forward, the gap between the initial enthusiasm and the lack of communication before the decision left me feeling dismissed and disrespected. From my research, OneDigital appears to be a great company to work for—but unfortunately, my personal experience did not reflect that.
