I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Open Dental Software (Salem, OR) in Oct 2023
Interview
The interview process consisted of three different steps. First, they conducted an over-the-phone interview with very basic "Why do you want to work here" type questions. Then, I was invited for the second phase of the interview process. This was a test, as described by other reviews. It was three pages long. The first page included multiple-choice short-answer questions on basic computer knowledge. The second page included multiple-choice short-answer questions on basic dental knowledge. The last page required a short essay on a topic of your choice with the additional requirement of including the correct usage of the words 'their,' 'there,' and 'they're.' Additionally, you were given a packet of 20 pattern recognition questions. These were also multiple-choice, and you had 20 minutes to complete the packet. The third phase was a more standard in-person interview with two people from HR. They created an atmosphere that made you feel like you were on trial. They sat at a table facing you, while you sat at a different table facing them. They asked standard "why do you want to work here" type questions and recorded your responses. After they finished asking me questions, they told me a developer would come by to discuss more about what a Software Engineer position would look like and ask me more questions related to this position. They left me waiting for 20 minutes. Finally, the receptionist informed me that I was free to leave. A few days later, they called me and informed me they were moving forward with other applicants. I was thoroughly disappointed with the interview process; it felt like a lot of it was redundant. Not to mention being told I would be interviewed by developers, only to be kept waiting for 20 minutes and not being given the opportunity to meet with a developer.

There are many steps to the interview that are covered in other reviews. I felt the entire process was a good over all experience and would recommend applying to work at Open Dental if you think you're qualified.

Process starts off with an initial testing (puzzles basic windows knowledge), and if you pass that, you move onto an in-person interview with some of the developers. The in person interview is usually based off of the things written on your resume.
