      Operational Risk Manager Interview

      10 June 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Optiver (Chicago, IL) in June 2025

      Interview

To get an initial interview they send you a test that states “…if you don’t finish then you will not move onto the next round.” The test is regarding calendar scheduling that you have to do manually. Which I thought was odd because all calendars suggests scheduling options depending who’s on the invite. There was also a shape pattern questions in which you had to select what the next pattern would be. Along with a letter / number pattern sequence. Lastly, there were charts you had to adjust regarding the information. These were the only ones that I felt were relevant for the position. They were for example, profits were down double the amount in the South in comparison to the West. While the East made 345M and the North was 1/3 of the East. Map the percentage pie chart. They give you about 1 minute and some to answer these questions. I did not finish them. My hope is that someone in HR will see this and have Optiver rethink the relevance of this test. Especially the calendar ones.
