      Senior Enterprise Architect Interview

      18 Feb 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Paychex

      Interview

One of the great interview experiences I had (with utmost professionalism displayed throughout the process and with so much clarity provided (to the candidate) and clear expectations set upfront. It felt very seamless and I had a very positive experience. The whole process took 2-3 weeks and I got the offer, within that time frame. Below are more details. I applied from PayChex careers site, and a recruiter approached in < a week (how many companies do that !?) She was very clear about what they were looking for and checked basic skill, experience matches? After making sure I am still interested, she forwarded my profile to the hiring manager. Henceforth I had call/mails exchanged with the HR/Hiring Manager, explaining the whole interview process in detail end-to-end. (like you will explain to a human being not a mass recruiting template to a flock !!) Shared details like how many rounds? What would each round entail? Expectations, timeline, how long to make an offer? They gave ENOUGH time for me to ask questions and clarify all my doubts. (most companies don’t know to interview, it’s all about them asking googled question until top of the hour, we get almost no time to clarify our queries and interview them back) Both HR and Hiring Manager were super nice, pleasant, throughout the process, and very professional. And they exactly stick with originally explained timelines, and if there is a slight delay they update me promptly (instead of leaving me in the dark, again how many companies do this !?) Another positive thing is that everyone (including managers) on call were technical, passionate , so we could have meaningful discussion as opposed to “bookish/syntactical/academic jargon salad” from google/stackoverflow. There were about 5 on the panel in the 2nd round (don’t freak! It was still good) they all are on samepage, I can see that they were working like a “team” not like a bunch of individuals, disconnected. And all 5 were not bombarding and attacking you, but helping you and patiently listening to you! So it did not feel stressful at all. Basically they are trained on “how to interview?” (I can tell) Plus they made eye contact and showed genuine interest in you (than talking to computer/machine like how they do in Amazon during marathon loop) And it was assured that they are recruiting people with tech-acumen, aptitude and passion who can learn “skills” super quickly, smartly, but not a bunch of “books and machines”, as per a “predefined” templated, generic need. Last but not least, the HR lady was very friendly too. She was the one who made sure that the candidate was not in the dark even if there was a slight delay. And tried her best to match your expectations. Very responsive! Keep up with this good interviewing process and passion team PayChex!
