I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Pebl (Palo Alto, CA) in Apr 2024
Interview
Typical IC Design job interview (for a management role). Phone screen with a recruiter, hiring manager interview, design whiteboard exercise, 2 one one interviews with cross functional peers, AND a portfolio presentation.
I was told my feedback was good throughout every step, including the final stage. I was told literally 6 times that the recruiter would know more in a few days. The recruiter's final email was her apologizing that the team hadn't decided and she had no idea when they would.
I decided to follow up 2 weeks later to close it out, 2 weeks later I got an automated rejection as if I hadn't done 8 interviews and been working with a recruiter for 4 months.
Lots of red flags, including...
-No diversity on the team, all the same gender, all around the same age and ethnicity,
-Every person I spoke with was looking for this role to solve their inability to work well with cross-functional teams.
-The inability to make a decision on hiring in a timely fashion, shouldn't Design teams have empathy? Their company policy is to tell a candidate within 7 days, not 7 weeks.
-The recruiter being too timid to force a decision, or even send the rejection herself.
-The role has been posted for months, and they are clearly wasting lots of qualified candidates time.
