      Store Manager Interview

      1 July 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Newark, DE
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at PetSmart (Newark, DE)

      Interview

I applied online and got a phone call to schedule an interview a couple weeks later. I was more than qualified for this position and the interview I felt went extremely well. I really wanted this job and was very excited. I was told that I would receive a call for another second interview. After a week with no call I called the first interviewer and they said, that the second interviewer was busy and they would get back to me the next week. After the next week still no call so I called back and they said that they did not know why I was not contacted yet because I was a top pick for the position. The interviewer said that they would call/email to see what was going on. I really did not want to call a third time, but I really wanted this job. I believe two more weeks passed before I called again. And nothing. I really feel that if someone does not meet the criteria for the position or that the company didn't want to hire them, that the company should follow up with the person to let them know. I was very disappointed with the way I was treated. When I talked to the interviewer the last time, they said that they interviewed a few other people and no one heard anything back. They said that they were very upset that they were not contacting anyone that was recommended. In this day of age when good help is hard to find you think that petsmart would value qualified job applicants.

      Interview

The process was easy and quick. There was a phone screening and then a panel interview via zoom. They asked basic questions about things such as experience and details of customer service. They asked about skills. We went over opening and closing, cash handling, leadership, payroll, schedules, inventory control, delegation, leadership styles and themes, motivation and driving sales by utilizing key performance indicators.

      Interview

They asked Behavior based questions for the most part. They did take some time to build rapport and get to know the candidate before asking questions. We talked about our love for pets.

      Interview

Interview with the recruiter from LinkedIn was excellent. I was forwarded on to do a phone screen interview with a local store manager. A time was scheduled, time came and I waited and waited for my call. Nothing. Finally got correspondence back and the the store manager said they had a situation in their store and they forgot about it. So we rescheduled it again. Once again I was prepared and waiting, nothing again. Finally got correspondence again, the store manager forgot again. So we rescheduled again. Finally got the interview completed and the store manager forwarded me on to the next level and said I would be contacted back within a week by the district manager or a human resource representative. 2 weeks later nothing. My experience after dealing with the recruiter was very disappointing. Very unprofessional. Hopefully they treat employees, as well as any pets they deal with, better than potential employees.
