They claimed they are an executive recruiting agency, but it is a total scam! They posted an ad on Craigslist for a Client Advocate for a company called Spartan Strong Athletes. Once you apply, they send you an email telling you that you have been selected for a preliminary telephone interview that you need to schedule. So, I scheduled the interview and this person called me, who did not seem to be very sophisticated and asked me some basic questions. After the interview, a couple of days later, I received another email telling me that I had been selected as 1 of 3 candidates who would later go on to interview directly with the client. The email stated that in order to be eligible for the interview, you would have to pay $37.50 for a background check. So, I go ahead and complete the form for the background check, and I should have known something was up at this point, because the form I filled out for it was not like any background check I had ever completed before. For one thing, they only asked for the last 4 digits of your social and I'm sure you need the full number to complete a real background check. Also, they said it would take a week to get the results, which is a lie. I have completed background checks in the past, that only took minutes to get the results. Also, the cost of a legitimate standard background check is only $25.00. Well, to make a long story short. The email that said I had to pay for a background check, also said to be on the look out for an email from the company that would be interviewing me directly. Needless to say, that email never came. First their website disappeared, not they have re-routed it to an entirely new website that has no info on it. Now they call themselves Talent Recruiters. Also, the company that they were supposedly recruiting for has also disappeared.
After I did a little digging, I found out that Pierce Robins had posted the same job on Craigslist in just about every major city in the country. I should have gone with my gut when I first started dealing with this crooked company! I felt that something just wasn't right. I did a Whois search and found out that they bought their domain name in January of this year, but their website said that they have been in business since 2009. That should have been my first clue!!
I hope these criminals are found and are prosecuted and thrown in jail!!
