I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Planet Education Networks (London, England) in June 2024
Interview
Straight forward and the interviewer was friendly which made me at ease. It was onsite as everyone works onsite. Interviewed by 2 people who I later found to be my manager and a colleague.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Planet Education Networks in Oct 2024
Interview
The interview process was straightforward. One interviewer actively took notes and asked questions, while the other primarily observed and listened to my responses. The questions were simple and basic, making the process feel fairly relaxed. The entire interview lasted approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
I have to emphasise the oddity I experienced in this. During the interview, as I was explaining my educational and professional background, one of the interviewers interrupted me to ask, 'Is Samurai Japanese?' It was unclear whether this question stemmed from visual profiling or the fact that I mentioned being a language tutor, but it felt completely irrelevant to the role I was applying for. This interruption threw me off, as it demonstrated a lack of focus and respect for what I was saying. Unfortunately, instead of redirecting the conversation, the other interviewer joined in, commenting, 'I think Samurai is from Japan, isn't it?' This exchange made me lose confidence in the professionalism of the company.
Additionally, I was asked whether I considered myself disabled. I believe such questions should be handled by HR in a formal capacity, either before or after the interview, rather than during it. This felt inappropriate and out of place.
