I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance in June 2010
Interview
First you must go online and submit your resume, then your application. I was then asked to come into the office and take a couple of tests. The first test was testing knowledge, problem solving skills and working with vague information. If you pass this test, then you must take a personality test. If you pass this test someone will call and schedule your interview, mine was by phone. You must set aside 60-90 minutes for this interview. The interviewer was impersonal and not very conversational. I found it difficult to communicate with her due to a lack of feedback. It seemed she was reading from a list of questions and writing while I spoke. She never chuckled or gave any indication that she was really listening to me. There was no affirming "uh huh" or "um hmm" to let me know she was paying attention. Every answer I gave her was followed by long awkward silences.

Interview
The interview process is pretty strenuous. You do have an assessment that you have to take. Before you get the in person interview. After you do the assessment you do have virtual star question method questions that you have to answer. If you don’t do well with that you won’t get the final interview with the recruiter or hiring person. Definitely study STAR questions. They’re kinda hard. And then the final interview they do ask you a few star questions as well. You can use the ones from your virtual interview. It was really easy-going though. I did appreciate how easy the conversation was for the final interview.
