Interview
I applied for this job through a recruiter. The process was super quick, I interview literally a day after I had applied. The staff were nice and welcoming. The interview was straightforward and unexpectedly casual (in a good way). The interview ended with some technical questions and a test. After a week, I received a phone call from my recruiter to say that my application had been unsuccessful.

Interview
Found the job via a recruitment agency, and was interviewed first by the bursar, then by the lady I would be working directly under.
The first interview was great, and I had I lovely impression of the bursar and school generally. However, he mentioned that he was looking for someone "robust" because he'd had girls crying in his office, because they'd struggled to work with the lady I'd be working with, which was a huge red flag.
After that, he took me to meet this lady and left me to have a chat with her. This was an unbelievably unprofessional and uncomfortable experience. The lady informed me that she did not want someone with my experience, she wanted someone who didn't have a degree, I would need to be sure to do as I was told, not talk back, she didn't like my experience, and so on. I tried hard to facilitate a productive decision, as I understood her fears about hiring someone who might just use the position to gain a year's experience. But she had no interest in any discussion, only to preach at me. She was very rude and belittling, and it did not surprise me at all that they were struggling to fill the position.
On the plus side, I got the impression that the school was generally a lovely place to work - it was just unfortunate that this one lady seems to have made the finance department a very unpleasant place to work. I would have been happy to take the job if it weren't for her.
