Interview was for Hoovest division.
Co-founder sends an email with a calendly link. Dates available were the following three business days. Event title: Initial interview with *insert CEO's name*. The interview was scheduled for 20minutes. On the day of you are updated with a zoom link in your calendar if you saved it to your calendar.
The meeting was on time. I didn't expect two people at the interview because the title of the appointment was only with CEO. Anyways no problem, we say our hi's and then CEO immediately asks "What are you interested in?" No introductions, no "tell me about yourself", no "this is our company and this is our vision". Just straight grill.
I ended up asking them "Is all these questions [about technology, since I mentioned I take an interest in learning more about technology to the opening question] related to the Operations and Compliance officer role?
The response: "we didn't think this role was what you're looking for".... People, I applied to this role and you're telling me this whole time you were interviewing me on a role I didn't prepare for and was not asked about. Good job, you have a promotional video on your website on how "you don't assume things about your clients and that's what sets you apart" but you assume someone coming in to a job interview didn't actually want the job they applied to. Please don't waste my time or yours.
They didn't consider that the job interview isn't just for the employer to find an employee, but also the employee to see if they would even want to work for that employer.
Such a terrible experience and first impression. Co-founder was more humane and tried to lighten the mood in the end.
Also: they didn't specify in their job posting that they're hiring freelance. The whole experience was rude.
They said they will get back to me in two to three weeks.
