      Commercial Account Manager Interview

      Declined offer

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at RBC (Calgary, AB) in Nov 2022

      Interview

The process consists of two interviews, one with the recruiter and one with two VPs. The first interview with the recruiter was a video call over cisco Webex, 45 minutes to an hour. First interview Questions: 1) tell me about yourself? 2) why are you interested in RBC and in this role? 3) what are your salary expectations? 4) what do you know about the commercial account manager role? 5) how do your skills align with this role? 6) where do you see yourself career-wise 3/5/10 years? 7)Did you work in roles where you had a sales target? 8) What do you do when you are not meeting your goals? 9) why are do the best fit for this role? 10) how do you prepare for a client meeting? 11)why does the manager role require strong financial acumen? 12) what are the key elements of a financial analysis? what is important? Second interview the second interview was about an hour with two VPs. One of the VPs was asking great questions and getting to know me better and my experience, the other VP did ask some questions as well, but there were probably 3 questions that were completely irrelevant. I did not have a good experience during the second interview. In some instances, the second VP kept asking the same questions in a different way. Questions 1) Tell me about yourself 2) What is the first thing you do when analyzing a client's financial statements? 3) How do you grow the desk? 4) are you comfortable doing cold calling? 5) why do you want to leave your current role? It looks like I was going to be working closely with the second VP, and for that reason, I declined the offer.
