RI Chemical interview questions

Application had 6 stages of interview (even for a junior/entry level role). First interviewers were kind and explained the different functions and skills required of the role. The last interviewer was intimidating and did not give me a chance to express what I can bring to the company. Interviewer kept asking (and was not satisfied with my answers) why I was exploring given that I am currently employed. In the end, I was informed on my last interview that my asking rate is not within the budget even if I have disclosed my expected rate at the onset of my application and during discussions with previous interviewers. The recruiter also failed to provide update on the status of the application.
