      Digital Strategist Interview

      12 Apr 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Radancy (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2018

      Interview

The recruiter reached out to me regarding a Digital Strategist role and wanted to schedule time to meet. I gave him my personal contact info & resume and then never heard from him. One week later I followed up asking for the meeting and he randomly threw an invite on my calendar. Didn't ask what time worked. I replied that I had a conflict and asked for another time and he made the adjustment. When it was time to interview & he hadn't called, I sent a followup email asking to reschedule. Another 3 minutes later, he finally called saying he lost track of time. He proceeded to ask me what I do in my current role, what I want to do. I've worked in digital marketing for 5 years now in almost every aspect. He said he didn't understand so I explained. Then we went into what's my dream job, I said what I'm doing now. Again, he said he didn't understand so I clarified. He asked how much I want to make, to which I responded with "I can't give you a number without seeing the position." I was told this was 'stupid' and 'wrong' and do I want to make 20k more, the same, less, etc. I said okay -- looking at the Digital Strategist role, here's my range. He responded with that role isn't right for me because it requires a background in digital marketing. I said I believe you've misunderstood, and ONCE AGAIN, explained that I work in digital marketing and this role fits where I am at in my career. He said he'd love to help me out but he just doesn't get what it is that I do. He said that looking at my LinkedIn it's bare bones and has zero information on it and I should really do a better job. He asked if I have any client facing experience (again, on my LinkedIn & resume if you bother to read) and I said yes. He scoffed and asked who. I responded that I've worked with General Motors, Rolls Royce, Ford as well as other clients that are relevant to the region/state that I live in. He asked for my resume and I said I could get it to him later that evening or the next day since I had other interviews lined up. He settled for that and we hung up. Keep in mind he already had it, and it's the same exact info as on my LinkedIn. If a recruiter doesn't understand you, talks down to you and doesn't treat you with respect --- they will for sure misrepresent you & it's a glance at what the company was like. Hard pass.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Radancy

      Interview

The initial interview was simple and straight forward. It was pretty casual with basic questions that got to know you. However, I was told that I would hear from the hiring manager within 3 days because they needed to fill the role. After 1 week, I followed up with the initial interviewer to express my interest and ask if a decision was made. No response. More than a month later, I received an email from the hiring manager (who was supposed to get back to me in 3 days). He wanted to meet for coffee in the morning to do an in-person interview that week. I responded the same day, and explained that I couldn't do an interview in the morning because I was still employed and started work by 7:30 am. It's been another two weeks since I sent that email and he still has not responded. Based on this experience, I wouldn't consider working for this company. I can only imagine how communication is day-to-day.
