I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Rakuten in Jan 2022
Interview
The salary is quite low when compared to other global companies in Japan.
The thing is even though I adamantly told them the case base pay is lower than what I got in my hometown they still refused to give me a rise and were not open to negotiation.
The stock option is useless because you have to stay in the company for more than 4 years and the bonus is not that attractive when deducting all taxes and cost of living in Japan.
It's ridiculous that the company wants the candidate to relocate to Japan but they cannot effort the nice salary. It makes me feel like they're looking for cheap labor than trying to improve talent shortage.
